re- jonathan painchaud

I use Jonathan Painchaud's single "Laisse-Toi Pas Détruire" in Episode 1 of "This is Montreal". I originally wanted it to be the first song in Episode 2, at the point where Charlie is having a really hard time getting out of bed..and Charlie says "The hell with it,"..the kick of this song is completely appropriate to go along with that mood I wanted to convey. Alas, the Caiman Fu mp3 I had of their track "Pas De Panique" was rather subpar sound quality wise, in comparison with the other songs I was using..and, not having anything else musically that was suitable at the time for a similar mood, Jonathan's song got bumped up to Episode 1. It worked just fine. I ended up buying the Caiman Fu album..rather cheaply at HMV 333 Yonge..a huge shock actually..so "Pas De Panique" will show up at some point in complete stereophonic magnificence in the future I'm sure.

One day, whilst online, I was bored and curious..or should I just say curiously bored..and decided to check out what Jonathan Painchaud had at You Tube in the way of music videos for his stuff. And I found the vid for "Laisse-Toi Pas Détruire"..

..and I was blown away because it totally was "This is Montreal", the music video! Especially the first 2 minutes. The mood was perfect, the jump cuts of the night time skyline of Montreal, the bustling streets and traffic, the brooding hero in the dimly lit bar, the rather nebulous story unfolding around the song of some kind of love gone wrong, the angels in the chorus...it was just incredible. I wished there were more Montreal city shots later in the vid..I suppose they were rather unecessary once "scene" and "mood derived from scene" had been established..

I just watched it again. Perfect thing to psyc myself up for the upcoming trip..
